Top Down Terrain Kingdom Death: Monster Organizer 16 January, 2017

Top Down Terrain makes terrain for Infinity, a skirmish tabletop wargame. They love Kingdom Death: Monster and recently released an in-box organizer to replace the included plastic tray. They gave me a copy of their Fan-Made Kingdom Death: Monster - Organizer to build an assembly guide around. Keep an eye out as they are working on display trays for the KD:M miniatures too. I like that all the game components have a dedicated section and you only need glue and rubber bands to assemble using the guide below. I've built a few MDF terrain pieces before and found the TDT pieces well designed and cut exactly to fit.

Everything in the example photos is sleeved per Organizing KD:M. There’s a couple millimeter gap so larger card sleeves should fit fine. Note that I laminated the Settlement Events and Locations and clipped with a rounded corner punch. The pictures show base game and all expansion content with room to spare.

Presented in general order of simplist to more complex to build - these are all straightforward:

  1. Terrain tray
  2. Small Card tray
  3. Gear Card tray
  4. Token tray
  5. Event tray
  6. Standard Card trays (2)
  7. Kingdom Death in the TDT Organizer
  8. Paint Update I plan on painting these in a matte black when it warms up a bit

Things to know before assembly and general guidelines:

  • TDT recommends either wood glue or a gap filling gel/thick cyanoacrylate. I used the cyanoacrylate pictured above
  • The walls of the trays have a specific fit - carefully check the bottom left and right corners and note the small tabs on the bottom align with the corresponding wall, reference the picture above
  • Build from the inside of the tray to the outside (inserts, then walls)
  • Dry fit (place without glue) the part together before gluing
  • Apply a light bead of glue on the inside tab that will be covered up
  • Carefully set or slide the part together
  • Use a damp paper towel to quickly wipe off any excess glue
  • Rubber bands are useful to apply pressure on edges while the glue sets
  • Contrast and Brightness has been increased on the pictures to show detail
